Your Clinical Confidence.

At Gulf Coast Pelvic Health & Wellness Center, mentorship is designed to bridge the gap between education and real-world practice. Virtual and in-person mentorship opportunities are available and tailored to your goals, experience level, and areas of interest.

Lesley Jones Mentorship Program

Who Our Mentorship Program Supports

Our mentorship opportunities are designed for:

  • Pelvic health physical therapists

  • Physical therapist assistants (PTAs)

  • Occupational therapists & OTAs

  • Physical therapy and occupational therapy students

  • Undergraduate or high school students exploring healthcare careers

Whether you are building confidence in pelvic health treatment, refining advanced clinical skills, or exploring the profession for the first time, mentorship is tailored to meet you where you are and support your growth.

Our in-person pelvic health mentorship program is designed for pelvic health physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and students seeking to strengthen clinical skills and deepen their understanding of pelvic health evaluation and treatment.

Participants spend 4–8 hours observing experienced pelvic health physical therapists as they evaluate and treat both common and complex pelvic floor conditions in a real clinical setting. This immersive experience provides valuable insight into clinical reasoning, patient communication, treatment progression, and evidence-informed pelvic health care.

When scheduling allows, learners may also participate in one-on-one mentorship discussions with a physical therapist to review clinical questions, patient presentations, and treatment considerations.

While participants observe patient care and treatment approaches, hands-on treatment of patients is not permitted due to liability requirements.

Observation Guidelines & Requirements

For students and providers who have not completed a Level 1 pelvic health course through approved organizations such as the APTA Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy, Herman & Wallace, or Pelvic Health Solutions, direct observation of internal pelvic floor examinations, including the vulva, perineum, or internal vaginal and rectal assessment, is not permitted due to liability and patient privacy requirements.
